ACKC is asking Congress for an increase in the Kidney Cancer Research Program budget to $30 million for Fiscal Year 2020. The House passed a bill containing the increase while the Senate did not. We are awaiting negotiations between the two bodies that will settle on the final amount.
There’s broad agreement that a Defense and Labor-HHS-Education package “makes the most sense,” said Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), chairman of the Senate Appropriations Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee.
The next deadline for Congress to pass thee spending bills is December 20th when the money to fund the federal government will run out unless Congress passes another Continuing Resolution bill, which will keep the government open.
